And Charts For All – February

Chart courtesy of The Economist
Behold! Our first Charts For All has arrived. We were quite pleased with the turnout and hope it will expand even further next month.

We were pleasantly surprised with the breadth of tracks chosen by voters, encompassing many tracks we’ve heard and many more we’re just hearing of now. Although most of the votes went to techno and house tracks, dubstep, stepno (for lack of a better term), disco edits and more also made appearances. If there was one winner based on most tracks charted it would be Ben Klock. Six of his original tracks and one of his remixes received votes, although the spread also kept him from climbing higher than the number 10 spot. DJ Sprinkles also received a number of votes for a variety of tracks from his distinguished debut album. But the winner of this month’s poll is whomever helms the Equalized label, with Seth Troxler’s poetic pumper “Aphrika” close behind. We were glad to see the dub version of Paul Frick’s “Steal My Heart,” offered first on this very site, receiving a nice share of votes. Joker planted the dubstep flag in the top 10 with “Digidesign,” and Omar-S claimed the #5 spot with “Blown Valvetrain” on Theo Parrish’s Sound Signature label. We hope you and your friends will make next month’s chart an even greater success than its debut. LWE’s official charts will follow this post shortly.

This is a really diverse list. Everything (that I know of) really is pretty top of the heap. Nice work all…and now time to chase down anything not on my hard drive.

It’s really great to see such a stellar chart picked by the readers, I don’t pick up loads on the berghain techno or dubstep but I would say this chart is MUCH better than the charts you see on other sites; less self-endulgent nonsense, more good music.

Agreed — this is good stuff. Bravo to the LWE faithful! Pass it on to your friends and let’s get even more entries next month!

I shouldn’t have procrastinated…

But a good portion of what’s listed would have been on my list. Will remember next time!

just curious but would you happen to have a summary of actual submissions? or least for the top 50 or so? wondering what the overall pattern of charting looked like and I’m sucker for statistics. thanks for putting this together.

The trouble is, not enough tracks received multiple votes, so I would just end up choosing another 30 tracks to make a round 50.
