For me, it’s hard not to like the titular track from Clara Moto’s recording debut. The Barcelona-based producer deftly melds two somewhat different motifs: a twitchy and fibrous arrangement rattling inside the confines of a bittersweet and ear-pleasing melody, and a see-sawing progression with similar melodic tastes (though not as anxious). Construction aside, it’s the familiarity of the “Glove Affair” which draws me in — the feeling that these particular musical thoughts have been lurking somewhere among stacks of techno releases over the last year or so and snuck in my head. Usually I’m drawn to innovation and the sound I’ve not yet heard; but this time, rather than question my own judgment I’m going to run with it. I suspect other listeners will feel similarly after hearing this.
