I think Garnier sold out a long time ago. He will rate anything aslong as he’s getting it free, you only need to check out Word&Sound and read the comments for proof.

No doubt Garnier is technically a better mixer (and his Laboratoire Mix is one of my all time favorite DJ mixes). Anyway, I wasn’t try to compare them in term of technical skill, just saying that they are both DJs (or curators, journalists, whatever you want to call it)who are at the top of the game in their knowledge, as well creativity, in terms of relating different strands or genres. Listening to MAH’s radio show, she’ll drop dubstep, wonky, grime, but also drum n bass, dub techno, and even some experimental/ noise stuff, but it’s all top quality stuff. In that respect, it reminds me of Garnier, who has always played a really eclectic range of music but not in a gimmicky way. Both of them obviously have a real passion and knowledge of the music and it stands in contrast with a lot of DJs who simply buy up all the tracks on a few labels they follow and beat match them in a paint by number type routine.

I’ve seen her at Tuesday club in Sheffield & she smashed it, didn’t miss a beat! Even if a DJ doesn’t beat match it dont mean they cant mix, after all its about counting the beats in your head, whilst listening at the same time. However I know of many DJ’s who never got beat matching down, but knew music inside out & which record (bpm) goes with another. Which I personally see as better than a DJ who puts it all through a laptop and then plays a boring set. Music’s not straight forward so why play it like that!?

“She can definitely beat match” No – she can’t. But she has a good ear for music and always give up and comers a chance to shine which is a great quality. I wouldn’t compare her to Laurent Garnier – who, technically speaking, is in a different class alltogether.

She can definitely beat match & the music she plays varies within such a massive range of sounds, there is no way she could accomodate to everyones direct tastes all of the time. However, I prefer to listen to something I might not usually listen to – this is why her radio show is so popular as she covers a vast amount of fresh sounds week in week out. As for the Garnier issue I see it as MAH introduced the world to dubstep which is bigger than Laurent Garnier as a person by far.
