I agree with the last comment, the vocals add something to it for me. I think it’s the tension between the music itself being so abstract, and the vocals adding a pop hook element in almost an old school rave kind of way.

Actually all of his releases this year (the Moderat remix, Brian Eno remix, and “Wizards In Dub” EP) have been downright amazing. I’m wondering when his former collaborators Mordant Music get the same attention, their stuff is brilliant as well, and in a similar vein as Shackleton although far more eclectic.

funny, the vocals really make this album for me by ratcheting up the creepiness. different strokes, i guess.
