The name Prommer & Barck doesn’t quite roll off the tongue, yet the pairing of Christian Prommer and Alex Barck is a natural one. With the former being a veteran of several well respected production groups (Trüby Trio, Voom:Voom, Fauna Flash) and the latter a founding member of Jazzanova, their combined years of experience and similar aesthetics meant it was only a matter of time before they crossed paths in a studio. Following their single for Permanent Vacation in 2010, the duo created the album Alex And the Grizzly which scrambles up techno, jazz, house, funk and the threads between into an organic textured amalgamation. This week’s exclusive download is Barck’s own remix of their track “Gladys Knight,” which keeps the low-slung grooves but shoots them through with persistent synth lines and acidic streaks. The end result is close to the sweaty yet low key vibe of a Prins Thomas remix. Our thanks to Prommer & Barck for giving away this delectable teaser for their first remix EP.

It’s got new tunes from Osborne, Matthew Dear, Dabrye and Tycho. Sources are buzzing that Sam Valenti IV and/or Ryan Elliot may show up in upcoming Aqua Teen Hunger Force episodes, but no one was willing to go on the record.
