Dutchman Louis Guilliaume has been anything but prolific since providing LWE with its 17th podcast, which is all the more reason to have another listen to the fantastic, genre-spanning mix for clues into his ripping, sui generis sound. Grab it before it retires this Friday, July 16th at 10am CST.

Louis Guilliaume’s debut 2×12″, Soulpoint, tore a hole through everything being played around it, and no one even knew who he was. It is an album that doesn’t really fit in any one period of time, its fidelity waxing and waning across slates of naked, raw techno, thought it always lunged ahead with conspicuous style. Guilliaume’s influences are broad and his experiences perhaps broader; check out photos of the Dutch producer on tour with Christian Death as their sound engineer. When and where did you make the mix?

Louis Guilliaume: I made the mix several weeks ago at my parents place — kinda homeless right now. I installed only the necessary things: two turntables and a CD player.

What’s the concept behind the mix?

The intro starts off with people saying things in different languages; feelings brought to you by the medium of sound. I put my emotions and feelings in this mix, making a mixture of some of the different styles of music that I play. In this mix I highlighted some of them.

Who are a few of your favorite DJs and why?

Just a few:
Carl Craig, Good Producer
Laurent Garnier, Magnificent DJ!
Claude Young, Incredible turntablist
James Holden, Impressive music!

And to be honest, I don’t follow recent DJs, been too busy with my own stuff.

What can we expect from you for the rest of the year?

A couple of things, new releases : a remix and a couple of 12″s.
