Nottingham’s Kamal Joory, known to bass heads as Geiom or Hem, has done a fair amount of collaboration since getting his start in 1995. In addition to running the Berkane Sol imprint, Joory has found himself working with the likes Appleblim, Shortstuff, Spamchop, and Earlybird. His latest collab, “Telephone Telepathy,” is with My Panda Shall Fly, threading his Berkane Sol sound through nimble beats for a track that makes an impact while feeling light as a leaf in the wind. Listeners feel themselves batted about alongside rubbery melodies and sidelong string drones, bearing out the alarm one might feel if their mind was being read in front of them.
