Exclusive Download of the Week: Inkswel, She Likes Techno

In recent years there has been a ground swell of artists emerging from Australia displaying unfathomable quantities of funk finesse. Inkswel, a former devout b-boy, has been releasing his boogie-soaked party jams on an impressive array of labels since 2011. Imbued with all the swing and chopped-up, sampledelic wonder of an MPC master, his tracks hit you at waist level, causing involuntary, kinetic movements around the rest of the body. To that end, our exclusive download this week is taken from one of his most sought after releases, “She Likes Techno” from the Get To My Party 12″ on Rush Hour-distributed Boogie Bash Records. Featuring the indisputable talents of Reggie B on vocals and Kid Sublime, the slow, suggestive bass line rolls out over the honeyed vocals, subtle guitar licks and a soft spray of synths. It also bears some resemblance to Latyrx’s “Lady Don’t Tek No” from 1997, which can be no bad thing. Previously unavailable digitally, Inkswel and Boogie Bash were kind enough to release this one for our readers. With upcoming releases on Faces and a collaborative effort with Merwyn from Virgo Four, you can expect big things from Inkswel in 2013.
